As said by Alder Yarrow, A Menu for Hope, the winebloggers initiative for rasing fund for person who need food and water, this year will be open from 15 to 24 december, trying to get over 100,000 dollars for the village of Lesotho in Africa.

Winebloggers from all over the world will be partecipating offering prizes (see here for last year’s prizes) and everyone can try to win donating only 10$ to the cause. Essentially, it works this way, in Alder’s words: “it is a raffle, with prizes donated by bloggers. Participating bloggers post a description of their prize (which is also listed on the main Menu For Hope page) and do all they can to attract donations (made on the designated donation web site) in increments of $10. Each $10 donated becomes a ticket for the raffle, which the person donating can specify as being used towards the specific prize they want.”

Vino da Burde wine blog will partecipate donating an evening for two persons in Florence, Tuscany in our historical Trattoria with a complete menu from “crostini” to our typical biscuits and soups and meat and eveything you can expect from a Trattoria running for more than 100 years and all the food will be pairede personally by European Second Best Sommelier and Wine Blogger Andrea Gori (myself, and obviously, if you want me!).

Among the wines you will taste the 2005 Pegasos Soldera Case Basse, the new shocking wine from Montalcino, that in Italy we all love so much but Wine Spectator continues to rate so low every time…(click here for an article in italian about Soldera and his wines)

If it’s impossible for the winner to get here in Florence, we will ship the wine directly to the winner, obviously ot our cost.
